The task for this unit is to organise two types of teaching courses, i.e., teaching Telugu as a second language to non-Telugu knowing adults from the inception of Telugu Akademi, i.e., from 1969 onwards.
An Introductory Course of 3 months duration – open to persons and officials in the Government and other autonomous institutions in the State who have no knowledge of Telugu.
An Advanced Course – intended for those who have successfully completed the first course and for those who have comparable knowledge of Telugu.
To enable the State Government and Official Language Commission to implement Telugu as official language, Telugu Akademi is extensively extending academic expertise and cooperation by teaching Telugu to non-Telugu officials and by imparting training to Telugu-knowing people to implement the regional language as official language in day-to-day administration in the Government Departments.
This department is publishing a Concise Telugu-Telugu Dictionary which consists of 60,000 words for the use of the Telugu literary world.
