Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao was born on 28 June 1921 in Vangara, Telangana. Growing up in a middle-class family, he showed exceptional academic talent and a keen interest in history, literature, and politics. He earned degrees in arts and law and worked in academia and public service before entering politics, developing a strong sense of responsibility toward social development and cultural preservation.
Known for his simplicity, discipline, and multilingual abilities, Rao was fluent in Telugu, Hindi, English, and other languages. Despite holding the office of Prime Minister, he led a humble life and earned respect for his integrity. His love for Telugu language and culture remained a core part of his identity throughout his life.
P.V. Narasimha Rao’s deep admiration for Telugu language and culture was reflected in his pivotal role in establishing the Telugu Akademi in 1968. He recognized the importance of creating an institution that could promote, preserve, and develop Telugu as a language of education, literature, and scholarship. Under his guidance, the Akademi became a hub for academic excellence and cultural preservation, supporting students, scholars, and the public alike.
Rao’s vision extended beyond the creation of the Akademi to its long-term impact on Telugu education and culture. He aimed to ensure that Telugu remained a living, evolving language capable of supporting modern academic and professional pursuits.
