The Telugu Academy, founded in 1968, was established to promote and preserve the Telugu language, literature, and culture. Its mission focused on encouraging Telugu as a medium of instruction in schools, colleges, and universities while providing authentic academic resources.
Over the years, the Academy became a key institution for publishing textbooks, reference works, dictionaries, and translations. These contributions strengthened Telugu in education and enriched the cultural growth of the Telugu-speaking community.
After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2014, the Academy’s assets were divided. Andhra Pradesh later formed the AP Telugu & Sanskrit Akademi in Tirupati to continue the legacy of Telugu development while also promoting Sanskrit studies.
